German Shepherd

Origin

At the end of the 19th century in Germany, the German Shepherd was born from the crossing of shepherd dogs from central and southern Germany thanks to Captain Max Fréderic Emile Von Stephanitz. The raising of herds decreasing because of industrialization, the German shepherd then fulfils other roles such as police dog, war or blind…

It quickly became the most loved and widespread in much of the world. Its official recognition dates back to 1898.

Character

The German Shepherd is a cheerful dog and he loves to play! It is an easy race to train and he is very attached to his master. He stands out for his intelligence.

It is a breed that can suit everyone (and even children, it has a very protective temperament.) and it can perform any function, from pet dog to watchdog, blind, etc…

Lifestyle

It is advisable to live in a house because it needs to do a lot of exercise but some accept living in an apartment if you take it out regularly.
Human contact is very important to him, so don’t leave him out all day and bring him a human presence.

Physical Characteristics

It is a rustic and very robust dog. Be careful though, like all large breeds, it can be prone to dysplasia but the best breeders use subjects not affected by this disease for reproduction.

Size: 55 to 60 cm for female, 60 to 65 cm for male.

Weight: 22 to 32 kg for female, 30 to 40 kg for male.

Average life expectancy: 13 years
